Organizing our classroom
Hey! Here's another blog post, this time going over what we did today! What we did today was related to the Field Experience we did yesterday. We were tasked with not on with reorganizing our classroom, but also making our social contract, and we used what we did yesterday to help with reorganizing the classroom!
Our social contract was pretty simple. We went over what we thought made a successful student, a success teacher, what a good learning environment looked like, and norms inside and outside of our school. We, of course, all accepted everything laid out. I think a successful student is someone who is willing to make mistakes and willing to learn from them, someone who is willing to take leaps and willing to do things outside their comfort zone. Of course, they'll be respectful and kind to the people around them. I believe good teacher is someone who will facilitate learning and mistakes, someone who will make is possible to learn and try new things. They'll make sure their class has the ability to experiment and test out things. I believe a good learning environment is an environment that is not only fit for discussions, but also independent and group work. It suits all students and teachers' needs and things they might need. It enhances learning. We should act as we should inside school: respectful of those around us, not trying to break anything, and trying to learn and experience everything we can.
Now that we had went over everything in our contract, it was time to transform our classrooms into better learning spaces! We had some ideas, but my group went with this layout:
